How the Two Mushroom Percs Work

Smoke comes up the downstem, through the water in the beaker, then hits the first mushroom perc. How to Use

1. Fill through the mouthpiece until the water sits just above the diffuser tip of the downstem, and covers the bottom of the first perc. Too much and it climbs the tube; too little and the percs do nothing.
2. Load the bowl, light, and draw slowly. Two percs create more drag than a bare tube — pull gently and let the glass do the work.
3. Pull the bowl to clear the tube, then stand the piece on its beaker base.
4. Empty the water when you are done. Standing water is what makes a bong smell.

How to Clean

1. Empty the water after every session.
2. Lift out the downstem and set it aside.
3. Pour in isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt, seal both ends, and shake for a minute. The salt scrubs the walls and gets into the perc slits, which is where the residue actually builds up.
4. Rinse with warm water until it runs clear, then let it air dry upside down.
5. Do not use boiling water — it can crack the glass.
